Cornerstone Christian School
Who we are: We are a non-profit, tax-exempt, Christian School
that is nondenominational and not affiliated with a particular
church. Our students and teachers come from various church
backgrounds. We hold that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and
that salvation and eternal life comes from faith in Jesus Christ.
History: Cornerstone started in 1992 taking off from the
closure of Garden Life Christian School. The School has been located in
various churches in London until it relocated in Lily, KY in 1998.
Location: We are located in the former Lily Public School at 420 Lily School Road.
Credentials: We are accredited by the state of Kentucky and
the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Our staff
members are certified or are completing certification through the KTIP
program or ACSI. Our preschool is also licensed by the state.
Enrollment: We normally average between 160 and 200 students each year in grades PK through 8.
High Academics: Our Primary grade classes normally score in the
top 10% of nation on standardized tests each year. The school, as a
whole, averages in the top 25% of the nation.
Spiritual Environment: Students participate in daily Bible
lessons and weekly chapel services. An emphasis is placed on a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ.
Curriculum: We use mostly Christian resources for our
curriculum. Some of the publications we use include: Abeka, Precepts,
Shirley Grammar, and Clairmont Press.
Preschool: We have a top-notch 3- and 4-year-old preschool that
is nurturing, fun and academic. Students are introduced to the ABEKA
program where they learn their letters, numbers, special phonic sounds
and blends, and some sight words. They are also taught fine motor
skills including writing, coloring, cutting, etc. Preschool students
participate in our specials classes: Spanish, Art, Physical Education,
Music, library, computer and Bible.
Extra Activities: We offer a host of activities for students
including Art Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, gymnastics, cheerleading,
basketball, volleyball, tennis, music, Spanish, computer and more.
Tuition: We do not accept state funding; therefore we operate
on tuition, fundraising, and donations. We do offer tuition assistance
to families who have difficulty affording a Christian education. We
have set up a scholarship fund for that purpose. We use an independent
organization (FACTS Management) to evaluate which families
qualify. Anyone may ask for a financial aide application from the
school office or apply online.
