History of Cornerstone Christian School |

Cornerstone Christian School Inc. was founded in 1992 as a parent owned and operated non-denominational Christian school. It was created after the closure of another Christian school, Garden Life Christian School, located at Calvary Worship Center in London, Kentucky.
Several parents from the former school banded together to fill the need for a traditional Christian School of excellence. In the fall of 1991, London Independent School was started at St Williams Church serving students in grades K-3 though 2nd grade. During that same school year the name was changed to Cornerstone Christian School. The name came from Ephesians 2:20: “… built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus as the chief cornerstone”.
The school continued to grow and eventually had to be housed in more than one church. In 1995, the school was located in three different churches: Corinth Baptist Church (K-5 through 3rd grade), Grace Fellowship (Preschool), and Community Christian Church (grades 4th – 6th). In 1996, Faith Assembly Church opened its doors to house the entire school. The two ministries coincided for two years.
In 1998, due to the growth of the school and the church, Cornerstone moved to its present location, the former Lily Public School building, which was purchased at a public auction. By adding at least one grade each year the ministry has grown to encompass preschool through 8th grade.
The CCS Board of Directors now has a vision to relocate the school back in London, Kentucky. A long-term planning committee has been formed to research the possibilities. The school continues to prosper due to the prayers, dedication and financial support of many of ‘God’s people.
